Where you can lodge Payday Loan and Cash Advance Complaints
Government Resources
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) - The FTC has a general form for reporting financial complaints--such as those you may have against payday loan or cash advance companies. The FTC does not pursue companies individually unless enough complaints are lodged and a pattern of fraud (for example) is detected.
Consumer Sentinel - Before making your complaint, examine the Consumer Sentinel database, which contains more than one million consumer fraud complaints that have been filed with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and private organizations.
State and Local Resources
Utah State Department of Financial Institutions - To make a complaint about payday loan and cash advance companies operating under Utah state law (many companies) you can call Utah's Department of Financial Institutions at (801) 538-8830.
